The Sun Dont Shine Everyday
EVENT PLANNING is always exciting when you hear it for the first time, how it sounds how you imagine the happy moments and celebrations. What I mean is, it is always the end goal picture that people have in mind when it comes to events meaning the final results. however even the end results are not always as how they have been planned.
But the hidden figures are left unrevealed by the planners of the event. Planning an event is never an easy job mostly when it comes to the economic and unstable weather situation here in Tanzania, one day it’s raining and the next day the sun shines so bright and hot like its beefing us, smh.
Economically due to economic changes in the country money flow is not as smooth as it used to be this issue has affected different businesses in the country event planning being one of them FOR SURE. Clients are limited to have a certain budget for events so as they may not over spend and run bankrupt. On this issue we have had clients who first approach you with good intentions to work with us on events such as weddings, sendoff parties, etc., but later on they fail to pay the fee as we charge per events expenditure. Example we have had two clients which we planned a wedding for and a kitchen party but they failed to pay us, *sob sob* others use our ideas, time and services and cancel our service the last minute after we have done the whole planning. As a company we have tried to resolve this by setting conditions on payment where the client has to deposit an advance payment of the planning fee before we start planning their event, and it has worked out fairly well, FOR NOW, lol.
On the other side we also have weather issues, a good example; This November eventfully was honored to be a part of planning Gasper and Happiness wedding ceremony. Our client wanted a garden wedding. However, it was not easy because our client had approached us one month before the wedding and there were a lot of things to be completed on the wedding checklist and we were running out of time, but our team was able to coordinate vendors that were looping and also scout a beautiful spot by the beach that was perfect for the ceremony.
On the Wedding day
It was a beautiful Saturday morning however the weather was not in our favor. Here in Dar es Salaam Tanzania the weather condition is very unpredictable and our clients had chosen a garden venue, as wedding planners we saw this and consulted and communicated with the client but we were unable to come up with the solution to it based on what the client had insisted. As planners, we can only advice a client, their choice, is up to them. We had hoped that it wouldn’t rain on that day but as we were setting up the decor on the venue it started to rain heavily some of us were rained on as we were trying to cover the seats and we were unable to finish up with some of the decor that was already set because we had not rented gazebos. After the rain we tried our best to finish doing the decor on time which we managed and add a few touches that were left unfinished but it was not as we had planned. All in all, we thank God that the ceremony went well despite the weather.
